About Retirement Travel

Since taking early retirement from teaching, in 2019, I have travelled to various parts of the world, including Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East and parts of Africa.

I enjoy going to new destinations and exploring local sites and sights, engaging in new experiences, tasting local food, soaking up the atmosphere of different countries and cities and discovering  how people in different countries are unique from each other but also the same!

I always have  an underlying feeling of happiness when travelling and a sense of wanting to know what's in the next street, round the corner, further along the road, the end of a train ride, inside a building etc. It's like a hunger for discovery.

I never intended to wrote a blog of my travels. I never really thought it would be of particular interest to anyone, but having motivated a few friends to plan their own travels I decided to share some of my own memories and recommendations on here and perhaps inspire and inform others with information which might be of use in their own adventures.

My intention is to create a page for each of the places I have visited. Not to provide an itinerary for anyone but rather to summarise some of the highlights and key things I found interesting. I'm only writing from my own point of view and perspective and hope that visitors to this website will take some encouragement from it. Not sure what direction it will go in but I'm hoping to get feedback from readers to help inform my next steps.

I do enjoy traveling solo; it allows me complete freedom to go where I want, when I want  and if I want. And to do what I like, when I like and if I like. Meeting new people along the way is of course a great pleasure (mostly) and, in my opinion, a valuable part of any trip.

So, on this platform I will share my adventures, travel tips, and recommendations. Join me in exploring the world and making the most of retirement. Feel free to contact me at contact@retirementtravel.com
